Hey fellow ohioans

I've got an 81 FJ40 and I live in Lakewood (west side of Cleveland)

I need to get some work done : rear main seal, clutch, some other mechanical stuff.

Anyone have any recommendations for a shop in the cleveland area?

I'm sure it's a common question, I appreciate your help.

I have never used either, But I am on the east side and turn my own wrenches.
Where in lakewood are you? My girlfriend lives off of riverside so my 62 has darkened the streets near there.

Rising Sun is a great place.
Ask for Harold he is the owner.
Harold has owned FJ40s in the past and will let you supply the parts. I would recommend that since old LC parts locating is not his thing. Rear main on an FJ40 not that big of deal unless you have a split T-case that was beyond my ability. He did a clutch and rear main on my 83FJ60 a few years ago.

He has worked on my 77FJ40(Sold) and 83FJ60. The Tan 1980FJ40 that Dave spoke of was worked on by him about 10 years ago prior to a restoration.

He has also worked on my 07 Audi.

He is located on Bass Lake Rd. Just north of May field Rt. 322 about 45 minutes from the West Side. I know b/c I grew up on that side of town. If you do take it there I will sit since I drive his place 4-5 times x week.

If you need a new tranny I have a very tight one out of an 82FJ40 and a few other parts around.

Trailhead 4x4 Review

I live on the neer west side of Cleveland. I am a Tool and Die maker and always require detail and precision from my machanics. I own a FJ40 and a BJ60 and can say that Eric at Trailhead does a fantastic job. He left a flier one day inside my truck, I checked out his shop, then asked him to do some work. I've been been a satisfied customer now for 1.5 years. He is mainly a Landrover guy, but He owns a 60 and a PU and has the highest respect for the classic Toyotas.

The 40 is a 78 and for sale. not real pretty. $1800???
