I'm trying to clear my P401 code on my 96 LC, (CA). Cleaning the vacuum modulator filter worked for only a few miles. I would like to clean my EGR but it seems a bit labor intensive to remove. Would if be okay to clean my EGR by spraying Carb cleaner down the throat of the bottom tube that the EGR vacuum modulator attaches to. I believe this tube goes into the bottom exhaust manifold connecting end of the EGR valve where I suspect carbon build up. I then suspect the carb cleaner and soot would get sucked into the intake manifold. I would do this with the engine hot so the VSV would be on. For 1) would this not damage the EGR valve/orifices and 2) would it be okay to suck the carbon deposits into my intake manifold/engine? Any thoughts appreciated. mitch12
