snorkels are ersatz.............

Not in Alaska



I just change my filter before leaving the PO had a K&N inside I went back to the OEM and gained 2 MPG and an easily washable filter ( K&N suggest their special cleaning solution) I am going to get a centrifugal for the snorkel and the major dust runs

My friends and wheeling partners down here consider them one of the stupidest unnecessary waste of money ideas one could possibly do to a truck and any argument I've ever tried to make for snorkel gets laughed off. Between the 3 of them they have over 50 years of off road experience and I have about 5, they're mechanics for a living and I'm a backyard wrencher. Do you want to listen to our advice or a bunch of people on the internet, yada yada yada yada.

While we don't experience deep water often in AZ it happens. My snorkel saved me twice (Gila and Chiva) where others hydrolocked. Doron almost lost his V8 in the 100 in Bill Williams River. His air box was 90% full after the crossing (ANOTHER SEVERAL FEET OF WATER AND $$$$$. HE GOT LUCKY) so he/we snorkeled up.

For me....I'll play it safe.
