Has anyone had any experience with these? Are they any good? I found one on eBay for under $400 and am thinking of pulling the trigger...

I would not own one. I repaired the gun liner on a Clark 130EN (110v wire feeder). The gun liner has to be manually pulled out of the mig gun and you have to take the mig gun apart. It took me about 1 hour to swap the liner. What a PITA compared to a regular mig gun.

Very cheaply made and about 6 feet long. Drive motor diameter is about the size of a quarter. Drive roll housing in plastic with a tiny drive motor.

Cheaply made with very bad duty cycle. Clark is no longer in business, but you can still get parts for them from HTP.

I have a 180EN since 2001. It has built two exocages, numerous bumpers, spring over a samurai, welded body metal and no problems at all. I have been really surprised. At the time a comparable welder was well over $1000 up in canada and this thing cost me $400 new. Its more than paid for itself. The short whip is a pain sometimes but helps to eliminate wire problems when pushing .023 through it.

Try searching craigslist for a used Hobart, Miller, or Lincoln 220 unit. I picked up a lightly used Lincoln SP170 with a 4' cylinder and a welding jacket for $400 off CL. A co-worker picked up a brand new Lincoln (think it was a 180 or 185) for ~$500 off CL as well.

I have a 180EN as well. No problems ever. I've put my 40 back together with it.

I've got a 180EN as well, that I bought on ebay in the spring. The guy selling 'em is "playmaker" or some such. He told me the 180 was made in Italy (originally all were made there, I was told) & the 190 was made in China. That's what I based my choice on mainly.
For the price, not a bad machine, if I need to do a lot of any heavy welding, will head down to my buddies shop & use his Linde (I think) welder.

The welding mask is "basic" & constantly pinches my ear (maybe my ears are just in the wrong spot!), so I need to head down to my local welding supply store (who used to sell Clarke & still has nothing but good things to say about them) and get a decent one, hopefully w/o flame decals on it!!

You should be OK with not having a warranty as the company is gone

Mine is made in Italy as well. Very happy to not have something M.I.C.
