I have done a good amount of search on this..

For my needs (I don't forsee heavy night use.), the IPFs 968 are more than enough, should fit the ARB bumper nicely, and sell at a nice price to boot thru costco.

Should I spend the extra hundy or so and try out the Checker sourced Chineese 7" HIDs? They can still be had for about $220 for a pair...that is a good price and others have had them for a good amount of time with good results...Too much light?

I am not considering other ligths...

There's no such thing as too much light :D

I've heard good things from the checker HID's. They're a great light for the price.. I actually had a pair of them, but returned them because they wouldn't fit in my roof rack. I've also owned IPF's and have been very happy with their product as well. If you want something thats more water resistant or even water proof then i would go with the IPF over the checkers.

I have read the thread before...so what you are saying is you would go for the HIDs...

Yeah i probably would. I had VisionX 6500 HID's on my ARB bullbar and man they were bright. The ARB fits a 6" light basically. The Checker is a large 6" diameter light with its funky mounting.. so double check when you buy it , they fit properly before you commit.

Thanks Jeff. I will check out the Cheap Kragen HIDs..don't expect to be crossing deep rivers any time soon....

I have the IPFs and they are indeed a great light. I hadn't heard about the Checker HIDs or I would have gone that route for the money. You may not use them often but that once in a while you do you will appreciate the extra light. My .02

don't put lights in front of your grille if your engine cooling is marginal...

The engine cooling is actually good. I am planning on changing the fan clutch this weekend, in addition to getting the Kragen HIDs installed. (Noticed the wiring instructions don't call for a relay, but I will include it in the install to be safe.)

I paid $194 out the door for 2.

I may as well post a couple of pics for this thread.

you can see a few more palm trees on this pic as expected.

kragen Aux HIDs with the Highs on as well....

I think that having the HIDs in addtion to the HIR high bulbs is a substantial improvement in illumination. But I feel just having the HIR high beam bulbs is really all you need for regular night time trail drives....

L, get yourself a pair of LightForce 240s and then you'll see what Aux lighting is all about. I can see an EASY 300ft I'd say and that is not in complete darkness. The different color lenses they offer are cool too.
