I've had a leaky pinion seal on my rear diff for a while now, annoying but not worrying. Until weekend before this past one. Went up Squamish River valley for a recovery request, and at km5 road was flooded with about 32" water. Ended up pulling a Jeep back out (who'd come up from Richmond to assist) that had stalled in the middle of the 'puddle'. Seems I got some water in the diff from that - I don't think it was my breather although it would have been submerged too, because I regularly check it to make sure that it's not stuck open.
