Was curious about the gears in one of mine that has not been used a lot yet, maybe a couple of hours total. Opened up the gear box (all of 4 screws and 20 secs) and lo and behold it had a lot of grease in it. Well that is everywhere except on the gears. Perhaps it was packed incorrectly, but maybe more likely the rpms are so high that the grease is flung off very quickly. Indeed the gears appeared completely dry. Smeared some grease back on and the grinder feels much smoother now.

A good use of a couple of minutes if you use your grinder a lot.
