Check engine light

I was in the woods last night doing some off-roading and noticed when I cranked up in the A.M., the chech engine light was on.I drove it to the store and also noticed my speed-o was not working. I went under the cruiser and discovered the speed-o cable was pulled free.My question is will the speed-o cable being disconnected cause the check engine light to be on?

I’m not sure but anything is possible. I would recommend going to a parts store and have them pull the code and find out for sure. The local chains will do this for free.
