Chattanooga TN cruiser shops - Transmission replacement (2 Viewers)

2001 Landcruiser with 262 miles. Transmission went out . Have had 2 shops look at it and neither think can rebuild and suggest swapping for used or replacement. I would pay for the replacement but cannot find any reman units available. Tried all the top google spots . Even called Toyota dealers and being told its discontinued currently. Any suggestions where to find a reman unit? Not wanting to put a used one and have issues again soon. Or shops that have experience with Landcruiser transmissions ?

Just in case anyone searches in future had East Ridge Transmission rebuild for 3400$ with 3 year warranty. Only place in town that was confident to do it. Was quoted over 6k for reman unit at ACC Atlanta and 4800 at AAMCO Chattanooga for used unit with 200k miles.

I ran into the same on a rare transmission failure in an FZJ80, no one trustworthy nearby ( or anywhere I found) to rebuild. I finally sourced a used for $500, but took 2 tries to get a good one.

I have since located an NOS transmission that I have sitting on the shelf when/if this or another one fails…..if I don’t pursue the 5 speed conversion next time!
