As with most gxs my seats are a bit weathered. I'm getting new leather covers from Lseat. I'm entertaining the thought of changing the color from the factory beige/ivory to a darker color. Maybe a color that matches the dash? Has anyone else done this.

So many reasons not to do that... seat trim wouldn't match... door leather wouldn't match... the interior is already too many different colors IMO...and you'd have to do the back seats too... why bother with those just to make it look like a clown car?

I would stick with the same color and only do the front seats. I've never seen rear seats on a GX that were so bad they needed replaced. It's a lot of effort to replace the leather, especially the rears.

I will be recovering both front and back seats. I will be using an upholstery shop to install though. I'm not sure I share your vision that it will look like a clown car. I will have the door arm rests and door insert done as well. Hopefully someone will chime in that has done it. I'm hoping a darker color will show less wear and less vulnerable to staining.

I’m not an interior designer, so I can’t visualize a change in leather color.

I will say that I like the sport model interior with the blacked out trim. To me, that’s a more contemporary look.

I replaced my front seats, arm rests, and head rests with matching new leather from lseats.com. Next, I want to black out all the fake wood trim.

This trim change doesn’t add any road worthiness other than make me feel good.

Oh…one last thing…just like everything else I mod on my GX470, the domino effect never seems to stop.

How long ago did you install the Lseat covers? Holding up well? And before and after pics by chance? Thanks

I did it last December 2021. Let me get you a link to that post that has pictures. It looks great to me. Also, search for lseat on this forum. A few people have gone that route

Here’s the specific post on my seats. Here’s another one showing old ripped seats.

You might have to search for “leather seats” or “lseat.com” to get more info, but I know for sure there’s a handful of people on this forum who have replaced the leather seats. Most of us have matched the factory color.

And it took like a month for the wrinkles to go away and smooth out. And here’s today look:

I contemplated getting leather from Lseat that matched the darker beige on the door panels. I wouldn't want to add another color to the interior but I absolutely hate the light color of the tan seats.

That grey looks phenomenal though!

Thank you for sharing the pictures! This is on my to-do list sometime later in the year. Those look great. Really want to do new covers in the front + new foam padding in the seats. Rear leather is in good shape and is permanently covered since my dog is the only one who rides in the second row.

You shouldn't need seat foam other than maybe the driver's seat bottom.

I just did mine, lseat covers and drivers bottom foam, only because old leather was so worn the foam was exposed and damaged. You cannot tell a difference between the drivers seat with new foam, and the passenger seat with old 273k mile foam.

If you have money to burn, do what suits you, just beware it's completely unnecessary.

Thanks for the heads up about the lseat foam!

The bottom and bolsters (that the right term for the part that kind of flares out to the side?) is all I want to replace. I just want it a bit firmer. Get some serious lower back pain on drives over an hour. Figure while the seat is out and apart, may as well try to make it a bit comfier if possible.

May check with some auto upholstery places around ATL to see if they have any options for better foam.

Several 100 Series Cruiser owners have replaced aging ivory seat leather with a brown that matches the dash and door inserts (which are 2-tone).

Not sure how many have done this using lseat…but majority looked really good and I don’t think any resembled a clown car…

Thanks for sharing. Did you add additional foam? I don't see where you mentioned if you did in your post. If you didn't, do you wish you would have?

I wanted to add more foam and I asked for more foam, but the auto upholstery shop said it didn’t need it.

The leather seemed to fit a little loose at first, but it sorta settled in nicely. Wrinkles disappeared within two months and looks and feels okay now.

In the end, it was okay they didn’t add more foam.

Gotcha. The upholstery shop I talked to said mostly the same in regards to adding more foam. Said they will fit looser at first and then tighten up. Hoping to place my order soon.
