We recently visited the Ghost Town of Cerro Gordo in the Inyo's above Owens dry lake near Death Valley. If you like Ghost Towns this one is for you...

how do you like the vans vs the 80 in room and power?...how are they off road?...
I do enjoy your adventures story's and pics...

Cool write up.. Passed through CG last spring. I'll remember to ask first next time!

The Room of the van and the power is great. Shoot, our 80 couldn't get out of it's own way... the 7.3 liter diesel doesn't even know it's pushing 10,000 lbs around. That and i can get 18mph with a 50 gal tank. It rides well, but won't be able to blaze down fire roads as fast as the 80.... and of course some places it won't fit.... but if we need to go to a smaller trail we have our 1997 80 series and the OzTent.

Once again, strong work Dave! With your writing and photgraphy, you make it a lot easier to live vicariously through you. I am very glad to have some new trip reports to read. I will have to add Cerro Gordo to the list. Ghost towns have always facinated me and I have yet to experience one. Spending a few days there woudl be a great way to get lost "back in time".

Very nice write up... how do you contact the care takers in advance... or do you just talk to them when you arrive?
