I did the Waldo Canyon Road earlier this afternoon.

Nice clear skies. Not too hot behind the header with a hole in the transmission hump.

I decided to lock the hubs and do 4low climbing the hill on the way back, the grade almost warranted it.

I wasn't sure if County Road 59 (thru Cerrillos Hills State Park) would connect with the Bonanza Creek Road? Anyone know? Because it would be super cool to get onto some of that BLM or State land for a camping chair, some propane prepared whatever, and a sunset or sunrise!

59 is gated about a 3rd of the way north of Cerrillos but there are dirt roads that leave from 59 that could be open...I haven't explored those

When I was a kid we would drive thru, but these days its all locked up with turquoise claims and private property, If I talked to some people I could most likely get permission/key to go up past the park and around Grand Central Hill and squeeze thru trees and tight arroyo's to come out on the Waldo Road. It's been years since I wheeled that, left lot's of dessert pin striping on my 63 fj40. Let me know next time your coming out this way, I'll meet ya!
