CB Radio Troubleshooting (1 Viewer)

I have a Uniden Pro 510xl which is about 6-7 years old. Last trail ride at SMORR, I turned the power "on" not realizing the volume control was max'd; it crackled and squawked then went silent when I turned the power/volume switch off.

Since then, it transmits but doesn't receive; so I finally got around to disassembling the case and checking the internals. I figured I blew the speaker, but found no evidence, nor any evidence of having "let the magic white smoke out" of the unit (no burned wires, no burned resistors, etc.)

I'm wondering if it is worthwhile to solder a new mini-speaker into the unit, or simply buy an external speaker for it, or lastly, spend $40-50 for a new unit.

Suggestions?

Without checking the specs, does it have an aux out? I've done an aux out of the cb into my stereo before. It worked ok.

yes, it has an aux out....I'll try that with a stereo speaker...try to find one comparable wattage.

If that doesn't work you can get the 520xl on walmart.com for less than $50. It will give you rf gain control as well. Or if I could find a decent used SSB I would be willing to sell you my 520dxl, its about a month old.
