Ok, my CB wire fell and landed on my exhaust pipe and I accidentally cut my cb coaxial in half for my firestik and was wondering if the is a way to splice it back together? It is ran thru my roll cage so will be a pain to reinstall. Thx Ray

Dont think soooooooooooo.............

You will have to add two female connectors, connected to a coupling. The female connectors will have to be soldered or crimped on. There will be a signal loss in the this set up and a large lump in the feedline

I would create a messenger line and attach a new line onto the existing one, and pull the new one through by chasing the old one. You just need to make sure they don't seperate. If you overlap them both for a full foot and then tape them together and at least a foot in either direction you should be fine.

I have done this about a 1000 times installing audio wires, and home wires.

Preferred way would be to replace the coax. However, if spliced properly as described above using high quality connectors (not radio crap stuff), the effect will not be noticeable, especially in the CB band. You'll need to seal it well to keep out moisture, tho..

Having worked in radio since the mid 1970's, I second everyone's recomendation to NOT splice the cable.

You are only looking for trouble.

I won't even splice the feedline we use for our paging tranmitters and that stuff is close to $10 per foot.

Good Luck!

Edit: I see from your avitar that you are in Glenwood Springs. I think there is a Legacy radio shop there, if not there, then maybe in Avon.
