Saw a couple of nice cuisers at the point at Carolina Beach this weekend. An 80 with a nice Kaymar or IPOR rear bumper next to an Artic White FJ. They looked like they were having way too much fun. Were they ours?

I think that would be me you saw. Just meet the guy that was driving the white FJ. You should of stopped by. What were you driving?

this the rig you saw?

Yep, that's the 80!!!! I was driving the wife's burgundy 100, and we were down for a family reunion that day. My wife, 7 yo, and I walked by at about 1 pm and it looks like you guys were having fun. The tailgate was lifted on the 80 so I couldn't see if it had a UC sticker . . . If it had, I would have bummed a beer. (PBR?)

I have never seen a stretch of beach so packed!

Yes, it was packed. I was there with the wife and our 19 month old daughter. We had some Coors light in the cooler! You should of stopped by. Let me know if you are coming down again.
I am not a member of Upstate cruiser yet! Moved to NC from Portland Oregon last summer.

My Dad lives in Wilmington on Gray Squirrel Dr. off of Masonboro. We get down every 3 months or so, and usually take the wife's 100. I may be coming down in the fall to help my Dad and would bring either my 100 or 62, both of which are a little more sand ready than my wife's. Maybe do some surf fishing after helping Dad around his house.

I noticed there was a police explorer nearby where you were parked . . . How is the police attitude toward wheelers down there?

Don't know about police attitude? There is no where to wheel! Thinking about selling the cruiser. It is a bit overkill for living in Wilmington. I built the rig for exploring and camping in the northwest. I only drive the cruiser to the beach about once a month other than that it sits at home.

When I last lived in Wilmington in the '70s, I was in highschool, and few people had 4WD. So, the one guy who had a Jeep was very popular . . . usually, he would go down to Carolina Beach and make the most of what were dunes back then. The police didn't much care back then . . . .

Your rig looks great and I bet you would regret selling it. You might want to consider joining UC or Old North State cruisers in that we take a number of off road trips each year. I believe ONS takes a number of trips to the outer banks, and your truck would do great!

Like that bumper by the way . . . I thought it was an IPOR, but come to find out you had it fabbed! Excellent.
