Can you guys tell me if this is a good deal on an 80?

Hey guys...

Ive had a fj60 for a while and am in the market for an 80. I found one for 3k. It has about 170kmiles, a blown engine and minor body damage. I can do the labor on the engine rebuild myself and ive figured about 1600.00 for a complete engine kit. The 80 im looking at DOES have lockers, the interior is leather and is in good condition. Any input from you guys would be great. Thanks in advance.

Move on. You'll be spending *at least* $4,600 in the end and who knows how well the rest of the rig will hold up considering the early engine failure. For $5-6k, you should be able to find a working 93-94.

what caused the moter to die? is it just a hg? if its more than that i would move on.

i got the impression that it was driven while it was hot. as in maybe it had a coolant leak and they just kept driving it to the point of no return.
