There is a lot of controversy over the weight. Its GVM is the same as an 80 but with all the extras it has cut the payload to almost passengers only.

I think Toyota need a rethink on where landcruiser is going especailly with cheap fuel gone forever.
I also think the rear axle being 100mm narrower sucks too ,but hopefully this will be rectified in the 09 update.
Snake Racing are selling spacers to bring the rear wheels out

I dont believe the Nissan is lacking power ,but I think they tried to wring too much from a 3.0 litre 4 cyl.
I think a straight 6 is the best all round engine shape but manufacturers want more efficient engine shapes to increase cabin room.

The guys at 4wd Action think the 105 could handle an engine swap with a diesel v8 asits chassi rails are wider than a 70:grinpimp:

Sometimes I think "what were they thinking". They have a good formula for building a good 4wd and then they "update" it and change things on it for changes sake. They are getting so far away from what made the LandCruiser name great they are risking losing customers by the shipload.

I like the D4D V8 and the Kinetic swaybars but some of the other changes are stupid.

When it comes to stupid ,the lack of an aux tank,no manual gearbox g/box and the lardass look of a bloated Kluger all spring to mind:D

Not to mention no solid front axle:mad:

Heard a rumour that Nissan is trying to get a deal with cummins to put them in the new Trolls. Same rumour also says they are going IFS. It will be 2 years down the road. Unlike Land Cruiser, there will not be any fall back to a SFA 70 series. Like you all said, Nissan has realized the same things as Toyota that the big money is in the bling mall "4x4s". I wonder who or what will fill the void demanded by the militaries and UN?

Do Cummins have a engine suitable for a Patrol?(and I dont mean something that powers a potato crisp truck:flipoff2: )
Nissan already have a vast array of diesel engines in their UD truck line up ,so they would have to be looking for something smooth enough for passenger vehicle.
Anyone know what powers the Nissan Titan?

The military will still get their heavy duty off road vehicles. It is just that they won't be offered for consumer purchase.

Most of us that want a serious 4wd typically look at the second hand market. I mean, why take a $70-80K vehicle then spend another $20-30K on it and take it into the bush and use it to its full potential when a second hand rig will do. Especially buy a new one with IFS if we can get a second hand one with solid axles only a couple of years old for a fraction of the price. While we keep buying second hand 4wds and all the soccer mums keep buying "soft" SUV's new the manufacturers will keep making "soft" SUV's.
