My off-road camping trailer is equipped with independent trailing-arm suspension.
After so many miles the camber adjustment cam creeps resulting in an ever-increasing negative angle.
I have torqued the heck out of the locking nut on the other end of the adjustment bolt to little effect.
I'm not sure why I even need a camber adjustment in this application and I'm tempted to lock it in at zero degrees (tire perpendicular to ground surface) with a bolt drilled through the cam and into the backing plate.
Would I regret that? What am I missing?

You may find that it still moves a little bit due to the slop in the slot that the bolt is running thru. I would adjust it to hit your desired camber coming up from the bottom, tighten the bolt, and then drill for your second bolt. That should take up most of that slop before you drill the new hole.
