I picked up 2016 Tacoma TRD Sport wheels on craigslist today. They are a 17x7.5, but frustratingly, they drug on the calipers. You'll see my angle "polisher" in the pic as I was able to knock down the 2 high spots on the calipers and the wheels now spin freely.

My question is, is anyone else running really close clearance on their calipers? Is there any flex in the wheel or caliper mount when driving?

I can see daylight now, but if I said its a millimeter, that would be generous. I don't think spacers are the answer as they would need to be 1.5" or even 2" to clear.

I believe you need what is called a “Toyota Break Cut to clear caliper”. However, I cannot find more detail on this. From searching myself, I found your thread. Still looking...

Anyone have information on cutting the caliper?

I just knocked the high spots down with a grinder until they cleared. It really wasn’t much. A year and 15-20,000 miles later with no issues. Wouldn’t buy these wheels again because of it, but it worked out.
