A new deal has been achieved for the Johnson Valley Off-Highway Vehicle Area thanks to the efforts of thousands of supporters, the California Motorized Recreation Council (CMRC), many groups and clubs, and particularly, Rep. Paul Cook (Calif. 8th District). It took 5 years of sweat, work, letters and persistence to prevent the 29 Palms Marine Base expansion from taking over all of Johnson Valley and The Hammers. The deal is a compromise with the Marines; but a win compared to other alternatives.
