Here is an easy fix for the plastic loop breaking on your remote. I didn't see a write-up on this. I got the idea from another website but did it slightly differently.
You'll need:
* A paper clip (I used a heavy-gauge one)
* 3/64 drill bit
* File or Dremel
* Pliers
* Heat Source (Optional)
1) First trim the broken loop till it is even on both sides, I trimmed it with pliers then sanded it smooth. This is optional but makes it look better IMO
2) Drill a hole on each side of the casing as close to the seal as you can. The tighter the clip is in the hole the better
3) Form the loop and bend the sides 90 degrees to fit into the holes you drilled. leave excess wire out the bottom
4) Once it fits pull out the wire half way and heat it, I used a butane lighter, it only needs a few seconds of heat. Now push the loop down on a hard surface and it will melt itself into the housing. You don't HAVE to do this but it closes better if you do and trying to drill a channel for the loop with the dremel looks sloppy
5) It should now be flush and you can reassemble the remote
6) Trim the excess wire coming out the bottom and file it down smooth
Not amazing looking but cheap and easy. Take the $30+ a new housing costs and buy yourself something nice
