finally checked my pads at just over 60k and was surprised to see how much i had left. had already bought pads, but decided to shelf the project until it needed it.

has anyone driven until the pads started to squeal? normally there is a small metal tab that makes a warning contact with the rotor well before the metal of the pad, but i didn't see it on my replacement pads.

Some pads you transfer the squealer to the new pads. Are your replacement pads factory? You can run untill the squealer hits but due to sometimes getting uneven wear and the squealer only being usually on the inner pad you can run the risk of going metal-to-metal on the rotor. If you do your own service then you should be checking the pads at each oil change. If not get your tech to take specs and change the pads around 4/32"
