My trailer's not going to win any beauty contests but it's super solid. Its got nice patina ;-) As long as I maintain it's "systems"-- lunete, wheels, brakes-- I'm happy.

I could use help from my more brake-experienced brothers. I want to keep the lever, cable, brake function as it is, but I want to rebuild it with new parts. Is there a one stop shop for all these parts-- cable, connectors, cable housing, drum brake parts? I've never done drum brakes before and although it seems simple, it looks/seems overwhelming to me at this point.

Thanks you for any pointers or links you can offer.

Cool. I'll try over on Expedition Portal.

First thing would be, why the need for the rebuild? If it simply seems non-functional, all it likely really needs is a good soaking with some PB Blaster or other penetrant to free the cable and operating lever.

The cables and lever are available as mil surplus IIRC, as they are essentially similar to the M416.

The brake shoes, etc are likely virtually new, as a parking brake sees little wear, since they aren't engaged while the vehicle is rolling. Sometimes one of the springs in the shoe assembly breaks. But the parts are common and should be available at your local auto parts store.

I cleaned mine up after the soaking, then painted the lever when doing the entire trailer. All original, but maybe mine was lucky and had little wear and tera?
