My 1999 100 with 352,xxx on the clock started giving me a quick ABS/BRAKE warning light and an audible continuous beep last week. Just at start up, lasted about 3-5 seconds then went away. Replaced a rear rotor and rear shoes about a month ago FWIW.

Yesterday, same but while driving, lasted for a few minutes... pretty annoying but more than that, concerning.

I have fully operating brakes. I have had no issues in performance.

I have read up on a few threads about replacing the ABS motor and Accumulator and maybe a MC rebuild.

Before I drag out the FSM, are there any other  things to be looking for?

I parked the 100 and haven't driven it since but need to tackle it as it's my DD.

Thanks in advance.

I appear to have some fluid weeping here...

Theres a black junction box with three main harness connections that has a metal tab and it’s wet but not dripping. Just weeping.

brake fluid level is in the middle range.

no codes on the scan gauge.

I have a similar issue with my 2001. It started with the ABS light and continuous beep for 15 to 30 seconds and then would go off. Now it is the lights with a continuous beep whenever the engine is running. The brake codes I have are C1223 ABS System Fault and C1251 Pump Motor Lock. The local Toyota dealership recommends replacing the entire assembly for around $4,300 plus tax. I'm looking for alternatives...

Have you heard about hitting the ABS motor with a hammer to get the continuous alarm off? I haven't tried it but it may be a temporary fix.

You guys need to stop driving them, now. The brakes will stop working almost completely, soon. They don't just get weak, they get GONE. With a full leg force, they barely do anything.

You can find rebuilt units on ebay, or just message Andy Le on FB. I got a rebuilt unit for $550 from him (rebuilt M/C, rebuilt motor, tested accumulator), and its beemn working fine for over a year now.
