I need some input and knew this was the best spot to hopefully get what I need for intelligent information. :)

Since I have been unable to sell my 67 FJ40, and my 1st J**p is having to go the the boneyard.:crybaby: I have decided to fix the FJ, but here is my brain teaser for you wonderful folks to wrap your brains around. I have a 4 cyl Perkins diesel that I would like to use. I have been told it has a type 1 bellhousing. It currently has a 5 speed Clarks transmission mated with it. If I were to use this tranny I would need to use a divorced transfer case. If I do this I will have a 4" rear drivesaft and a 6' front driveshaft. NOT COOL.

So I am in need of a married tranny and transfer case that I could use with this engine. Willing to buy adaptors and such, but in hopes that someone might make what I am needing.

Any and all input is welcome. This may just be a pipedream, but I would like to try.

Thanks in Advance

Pam, the back of that Perkins and the front of the Clark is going to be SAE #2 or #3 (the difference between the two is diameter), and I've not heard of a 4WD version of the Clark transmission, so you will need to find a married tranny/transfer with passenger side drop that's the same SAE pattern on the front (and hope the clutch throwout mechanism and whatnot continues to work) and I don't know what that might be...and it'll undoubtedly have centered rear output. Asking a lot in a short truck, you'll be wanting to push the motor forward in the engine bay.

You'll be doing a lot of googling, perhaps some searching ih8mud and pirate for help.
