Sheri found this truck and I bought it today for $500. Economy is brutal for gas guzzlers.

1990 FJ-62 w/ 3FE and 137,000 miles. Elderly gent who moved to FLorida. Brakes and exhaust need attention; chassis looks typical for New England truck. A/C, heat, work all parts are there. Interior is great and body is straight. Even came with FSM.

The guy said he had on Craigslist several times this winter w/ no takers. I dont remember seeing this truck, but they were ready to let it go.

Nice grsb. The low price will offset the pain at the pump for a little while

I was just looking at the 60 registry for setups I like. So far, a 3" OME lift w/ 33x10.5s.

With 4 trucks, I eventually want to set them all up for 33s so that I can buy one knarly set of offroad tires and they'll fit any of my rigs.

I bring the truck home on Sunday, so I will have to assess what the truck needs. Right now I may need to replace some brake lines and install an aftermarket transmission cooler. Fluids and filter changeouts then start detailing.

After reading so many good words about the 60 series, I look forward to driving this truck. I will set it up for overlanding... w/ the first mod being National Luna dual battery setup.

Drove the truck home Sunday. The PO was surprised when I showed up without a trailer.

Truck was parked under pine tree, so I have been removing pine needles from every nook and cranny. 3M tar and adhesive remover will remove the sap droppings.

Brakes are completely shot. Filled the reservoir before we left and it was empty when I got home (10 miles). Parking brake doesn't hold, so drums/calipers/ brake lines need complete overhaul.

Battery only keeps 5vdc, so new battery goes in tomorrow. High resistance in starting circuitry. I had to jump start it with two grounds. One to the battery (-) and another connected to the block. Then it started right up.

Electrics good. A/C good, dash/rear heat good.

Leak in line to transmission cooler, but shifts fine.

Drivers mirror broken. Power antennae mast broken.

Cleaned the interior and washed exterior...looks great.

Idle is not quite right. Stalls at idle...maybe cold start injector or idle adjustment. Used the dash throttle to keep it running.

Overall, I am happy. The chassis is covered w/ rust and bottom panels and doors are just starting. Its definitely worth saving. Get it road worthy, then decide on mods.

Nice, good for you! I'm guessing it hasn't run in a while so the idle could be as simple as bad/old gas in tank.

pine needles......:bang:

nice find. Another cruiser saved!!
