Hi,

Can anyone recommend a good body shop in the Austin area, that still does rust repair? I got a few rust spots on my FJ40 that I need fixed.

Thanks,
Vito

Shop

Hi,

Damn it's hard to find anyone these days that is willing to mess with restoration or rust repair!

I did though find a shop called Al's Body Works, and went by today to check it out.

I met the owner (Al), and he gave me a tour of the shop and showed me a bunch of pictures from previous restorations, pretty impressive.

As far as cost, don't know I need to take me FJ40 by for an estimate??

Thanks,
Vito

VIto,

My FJ40 is at Ed's paint and body, and I'll post up some picture on Friday. he is tackling some rust, for me. ;) Do a search - a lot of people like his work.

Is that the place that did the work on Lee's cruiser?

Jeff,

Jeff's Auto Body on Lamar rebuilt the top of my FJ62 after it was crushed by a tree limb, but he won't even look at rust repairs. They do great work, but very expensive. Fortunately it was an insurance repair.

H&R Paint and Body in Cedar Park did quite a bit of restorative work on my 80, but I have no idea whether they would tackle rust work. Darrell Dawson is the owner, very nice guy and seems willing to do just about anything. He saved me a small fortune by suggesting more economical ways to repair the 80 than what I had in mind.

Ed's is a little family owned shop that Tucker discovered. I may be next in line behind Mark for rust repairs since the old 40 seems to be sprouting bubbles on the doors and rear quarters.

HTH,
Lee
