Friends of mine I saw over the holidays have an 80 series 95-97 Moon Glow Pearl (?) color that is oxidized and peeling badly from living in Laguna Beach. They want to repaint and she asked me if One Day Paint & Body was ok. I told her NO. She asked about color and I recommended leaving it the stock color for resale.

I also said a GOOD paint job wouldn't be cheap... like $1500-2000 minimum.

Any South OC recommendations? At least staying stock color the likelyhood of a decent job being done will improve IMHO. Thoughts?

Thanks Dave - Am I at least in the ballpark on cost. They plan on keeping it for a long while to come, otherwise I wouldn't be telling them to spend this kind of money on a $5000-7000 truck.

I will get back to you with one. My good buddy has a body shop in San Juan but I can't remember the name of it. He sold his old one and started a new one but I only have the old name stuck in my head. :bang:

No problem Mo. I don't know what their budget is or how 'good' a job they want done, but recomendations are always good.

Body shop I've used in Mission Viejo for years - Prestige Auto Collision, is very good, but not cheap.

Hi Brent,

I've heard good things about South County Auto Body in Lake Forest, off of El Toro. My son's Civic is there now. I don't have their exact address and phone number now (my son has the paperwork). The folks who run the place are very nice. I'll know about quality of workmanship in 7-10 days. My mother-in-law had her Camry repaired at Prestige a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, they didn't do a very good job for her.

Good luck to your friends, and Happy New Year to all!

JR

Que pequeno es el mundo. (What a small world) That is the shop my buddy sold.

I second Joe's sentiment. I have had two cars there, unfortunately and they do crap work. I cannot say it enough for those that would consider going there. DON'T!

Seriously, don't. :D

It is a small world! I'll add your buddy's new shop to my list when you post the contact info. Unfortunately, with all the crazy drivers around here it seems one can never have too many good body shop recommendations here in SoCal...

I hope you had a great Christmas with the kids, Mo.

Take care,
JR

Wow - interesting. They've worked on my LC (rear hatch dented from Kaymar tire carrier when rear ended, the wife's Z and son's Scion all within the last year or so and an MBZ years ago. Good work on all of them.

I'll pass on South County Auto Body in Lake Forest.

I can't recommend anyone down that way. But if you feel like driving,

Anaheim Hills Autobody

I've taken every work vehicle, personal vehicle i've ever owned there with no negative experiences ever.

x2 on Anaheim Hills Autobody...... The dealership I work with takes all body work to them... They are stand up and the General Manager to the place is a great stand up guy...... Very good paint and body work!!!

..... and i believe Caliber Mercedes uses them too.

Also, Robby Gordon has had his race car/trucks painted there as well.
