I just completed my lift and blew my tire the same night. I went with bilstein 5100's in the front with Toytec 112620 set at the second notch for a 2.5" front lift with stock UCA. I am running 285/70/17 for the tires and the caster on my alignment was in the -2 range when it was done. I didn't do much but trim the plastics in the wheel well.

Is a body mount chop necessary?

Can I increase the caster anymore with the stock UCA to push the wheel forward more?

Kinda worried I will blow another tire before resolving this issue.

Are you certain contact with the body mount blew the tire? Were they super worn down and rotted? I've never heard of that happening before.

It was a weird incident. I drove out of the shop that morning to work and everything felt good. I left work and got on to the freeway, began to feel vibrations and pulling so I pulled over and my tire was super destroyed. Tires were fairly new and after inspection, did not see any nail or anything. Just the side wall completely ripped.

Huh super weird. Unless you could see a pretty obvious point of impact on the body mount, I wouldn't think it caused it, but I'm definitely not an expert in these things 🤷🏼‍♂️

Side wall on the inside or outside of the tire? The body mount would contact the tread blocks, not the sidewall on the outside. Depending on tire size and backspacing of your wheel you could also be rubbing on the UCA.

No you cannot do anything with the factory UCA. You need to buy SPC upper arms which you can adjust and will provide more clearance at the back of the wheelwell with the factory eccentrics set to their max caster

Picture shows a gash in the outside. I had the same thought, I can't see how the location of the failure would come into contact with the body mount, and if it hit the corner of the flare you would see damage there. I guess maybe the pinch weld?

I'm going to go ahead and guess that the sidewall tore itself up from being flat at highway speeds, not body contact or a puncture. When was the last time the pressure was checked in that tire? A tire that has lost too much pressure will blow out like that when it gets too hot at higher speeds.

Seems like you still have your fender liner, so check that to see if it has been worn away/ripped apart where it covers the pinch weld. To cause damage like that, the plastic would certainly be destroyed.
