Im looking @ a 1994 BMW k1100, I dont know much about them.
I was hoping someone would have some insight?

Good bad otherwise?

thanks,
ken

Big and heavy, reliable (mostly), high build quality, good at speed. For really complete opinions search out a BMW motorcycle forum - there will be lots written there. Are you talking about the K1100LT?

I had a K100RT for about 10 years.

Nice bike. You better have the spare funds to do intensive maintenance, because if you don't it will fall apart on you.

It's no Honda in that regard.

Great high mileage touring bikes in general. The K bikes were buzzy at cruising speeds.

In the end I would not buy another one unless it was a smoking deal. Even then I would think twice about a K bike except a K75.

I might not hesitate for the right GS or PD. One of the best bikes ever.

Like Harleys, you'll need to save up a large amount for clothing, but in an entirely different direction to the pseudo-dirtbag crowd.

Cool!
the guy wants 2200.00$ usd with 64k on the clock.
Its kinda sounding like I will actually have to work on it to keep it up.:frown:
Bummer I was kinda hoping it would be like a Honda (turn the key and go)
If I was'nt maxed out messing with the Cruiser , it might be different

Thanks for the input.

BMW's are great bikes (I ride a 1150GS Adv) but as Gumby said and I come to learn, they need to be maintained and kept in tune to last and perform. Check out advrider.com a great site for touring info for just about any bike also look around bmwmoa.org

I bought a K100RS off the showroom floor years ago. I thought it was a real reliable bike. Sucked up the miles like a Hoover and had plenty of zoot. Looked like it ought to have some serious cornering ability too and it did... but not even close to sport bike type handling. More barge-ish.

Fast though. Krauts called 'em flying bricks. They definitely would haul for hours without a peep.
