AMERICAN FALLS, ID (June 27) -- On Wednesday, May 25th, the Cooperative Wilderness Handicapped Outdoor Group (CW HOG) began its adaptive water ski program, held each Wednesday night at the American Falls Reservoir. The program is designed to accommodate people with various disabilities for a safe and secure water-ski experience.
This year's program was nearly canceled due to aging watercraft needing replacement. CW HOG contacted the BlueRibbon Coalition (BRC), an Idaho-based outdoor recreation advocacy organization, who facilitated a partnership between CW HOG and Kawasaki. Through the assistance of a local dealer, this year's program was saved.
At the kick-off event, David Kriner, CW HOG's Director, said, "We at CW HOG cannot thank the BlueRibbon Coalition enough for helping us find these replacement watercraft. We would also like to thank Sport Motors Performance Center, our local Kawasaki dealer, for providing us the watercraft through the Kawasaki loaner program." "These watercraft will be used for the Adaptive Water Ski Class, for safety patrol during the two Kids' Camps, the CW HOG Adventure Trip, and our Adaptive Camping Adventures programs," Kriner concluded.
Jack Welch, BRC Special Projects Consultant, stated, "The BlueRibbon Coalition has had a long association with CW HOG, and I was glad that we could help them in this time of need. We owe great thanks to our strong supporters at the Personal Watercraft Industry Association (PWIA), and to Maureen Healey, PWIA's Executive Director and BRC Board Member, for stepping up yet again in this effort."
Welch continued, "The CW HOG motto is 'Making the Impossible Possible,' and I am glad the partnership we helped facilitate between CW HOG, Kawasaki, and their local dealer got this year's adaptive water ski program off to such a great start in fulfilling that motto."
