Had this exact same kit installed before I went with the Sequoia mod, been working fine three weeks after the mod, why wouldn't it?

According to the website and GWcruiser From their web site: Blue Sea Systems popular Add-A-Battery kit was primarily designed for boats with alternator output of 120A or less.
As a practical matter, a 125/130a alternation is probably just fine; a 150a may push it when a battery is really dead and you try to charge it up through this relay; 100a fuses and all.
I also called Blue Sea supports. The rep basically said that if the housing battery is low or dead and the alternator output 150A thru the "up to" 120A relay, it may damage the relay. If you have a fuse in between, it will blow or not blow the fuse depends on the Ampere.
What size is your alternator? 130A or 150A? Thanks for the bump.

I did the 150, I do recall seeing that but figured the odds of pulling that much were slim to none and if the start was completely dead and you self jumped the charge load would be split on start. By my reconing this would cause the two batteries to level out and not really put that much draw thru the acr.

Blue sea stuff IMHO is built way over spec so I'm not too concerned about an extra 30 amps that you'll likely never draw.

I hope it works well for you but for the peace of mind i want to sell this and get the 7622. If it is not sold in a few weeks, I'll be in contact with you to see how it works.

Fro Blue Sea supports. I guess I will go ahead to install it.

Dear Phuc,

If your alternator exceeds 120 amps for more than 5 minutes at a time the ACR could be at risk. The ACR is rated to handle 120 amps continuously, but can accept spikes up 210 amps intermittently for no more than 5 minutes at a time.

I wouldn't sweat it blue sea is good stuff. Check my posts or blog for good deals for supplies like welding wire, logs, terminals, mega fuses and such.

If you're really concerned you can fuse the hot fat wire from the alternator to the dial, I haven't upgraded that yet either but will do anyways.

I checked it a few times after an hour of highway and in town stop and go, 8 miles 40 min and its never been hot to touch. Put two tanks thru it since no issues.

Alternator or starter to the dial? Or doesnt matter? I have everything ready to install?
