Ran into these TRD oil caps on Ebay, pretty cheap, with shipping they are going for $13-$20

I cant see how you can get a chunk of billet for that price especially with a name on it, must be knock-off's, if the cheezy sticker falls off all the better

Anybody got one? Do they fit and seal well? are they really aluminum or just plated plastic? Only problem I could see is I'll have to have a rag to open the cap when the motor is hot,

And yes it is silly bling :princess: but it is a mod for my truck that I can afford,

:princess: :princess: :princess: :princess: :princess: :princess: :princess: :princess:

I armor-all my hoses :princess:

Might be a :princess: mod but who cares it looks cool.

I agree, sweet looking cap, but at that price I think you could expect nothing more then some coated plastic of some sort ..... if you find out otherwise let us know ;)

the auction says "You know what you're getting as this is a JDM item" ...... well, I dont know what a JDM item is so I would not know what I was buying, whats a JDM item?

Move it to chat you :princess: 's ! :flipoff2:

I was hoping someone else had already been the guinea pig on this one, got some paypal $ from selling the Chevy FSM set I guess I'll gamble with some of it

After the gamble is over let us all know. Japanese Domestic Market, glad somebody knew what the hell that meant.

I would steer clear of this oil cap. The aluminum makes the oil cap very hot! It is almost impossible to add oil while the engine is warm.

John

if it does turn out to be aluminum I'll have to keep a rag under the hood to keep from burning myself, I try not to add cold oil to a hot engine anyway but sometimes you have to

congrats on the win. let us know how it turns out.

Got the cap today along with some other care packages

And amazingly enough it is milled aluminum, machine finish is rough but not bad nothing I cant fix, they saved me the trouble of removing the sticker is came loose in the package, I guess you are suppose set it after it is on the motor to set orientation

The gasket looks good and it contacts well

Look’s like a knock off the TRD sticker say's "Racing Development" the "Toyota" is very much missing

The box just say's:

Type R

Exciting Driving Gear Sports Interface

Witch has a very Engrish ring to it so it may be JDM but not Toyot'a JDM

Does not look very good on the motor, it’s to shinny wile the valve cover head intake etc are cast, think I will sand blast it or acid etch it and rub a little used oil on it to make it match

The 6 black dots are actually Allen set screws threaded in so they are removable for work

if I can make it match better it will be worth the low price

and it does get hot, just threadign it into a hot engine for a minute and ti was to hot to hold

Nice but that type of heat absorbtion by the piece would make it undesirable IMHO...ouch! :o
