I bought a 1992 Lj70 in poland to use while I was in ukraine. I ran it hard. Upon crossing the Ukrainian/polish border i noticed a power loss. (This engine was burning oil in the past) so I pulled over and added 3 liters in my 22hr excursion. I limped it to the nearest polish village "Hrubieszów". I got it back to the states. Took it for a test drive and had a runaway. It lasted for about 13 seconds and stopped. I took some samples and sent it to BSL this is what they came back with.

Anything in particular that stands out to anyone? Or am I good to do a head gasket replacement and drive?

Thank you for taking the time to radio this.

Phil

I can't say anything about oil analysis but there is a suggestion of water contamination, and you say you are going to change the head gasket.

Firstly, I don't think I have ever heard of a 2L-T 'just' blowing a head gasket. It's very likely the head is cracked.

Secondly, why did the engine runaway? You might want to fix that, so it does not happen the moment you restart your repaired engine. What condition is the turbo in?

It might also be wise to remove your name and full address from a publicly accessible forum post.

I am in good standing with our government. I have also heard that the head on these engines crack. The runaway portion is a guess to me.
As I sai. I figured I overfilled with oil and when it got to the states it built o. The heads and ignighted

Can't tell much from oil analysis, unless it's catastrophic, without another for comparison. Usually a sample of original clean oil or a previous sample from the same engine with known km/usage.

6% water would be 300cc from 5 litres. That's catastrophic.

Well I appreciate the help. I'll make sure to take photos of the engine and my progress. I guess my next question is can anyone help me understand how to get this engine to top dead center
