God I need to order all that tubing before it goes away. I just sold the same fuel filter bracket today, received by mistake from Megazip. The curved pipe one was what I needed, for pre-filter fitted applications.

I have a new one of those. Let me know if you want it.

My God, those fuel lines.

Fuel pipes New
My God, those fuel lines.

My hunch was correct. HZJ71 fuel lines are basically an exact fit for a 1985 BJ70.

Unfortunately, the rear most piping is discontinued but I’m cool using the ones I bent for that application to the fuel tank.

Bracket locations are just very slightly different, but I was able to move them to the correct frame captive nut positions.

6mm return and 10mm feed.

Killed a couple of hours chopping the 3B engine mounts off. Cathartic.

Chopping and grinding away the B in me. (Ironically, we also delivered a turbo 3B 60 project back to their owner this morning. Prophetic)

Also, got my Coaster bus 24v horns in…. Coaster buses in many markets are still 24V vehicles. There are off a 2022 Coaster bus.

Good ole Maruko. Been making horns for Toyota since the 1950’s.

Really amazing project and progress! I'm really encouraged to get my own stuff squared away after seeing this build.
Anything with the Arakawa stamp on it is going to get the job done :)
The "hobbit hands" filter makes all the new parts extra shiny too!

Whittling down my list:

1. Drop fuel tank and change pickup out to 10mm outlet. Reinstall.

2. Drop powerplant in for engine placement. Weld frame mounts. Drop engine in for good.

3. Systems integration.

4. Electrical integration.

5. Exhaust.

6. Drive.
Completed in time for SAS10?

I hope so.

Rubithon. 6 weeks left before hitting the road.
Perfect. More body damage then. :grinpimp:

Not like we could tell... :rimshot:

My fenders and quarters are polished to perfection :grinpimp:

This has been very insightful and enlightening...just for part numbers and realizing parts that are still available! I'm new to the 70 series and diesels, so I have a learning curve ahead. Comically, I removed my hood insulation and replaced the hoses for the windshield sprayers this on Sunday. I spent some time just patching up the backside of the insulation board before reinstalling with the assumption a new insulation board was NLA.

Installed. Toyota makes it impossible to mess up installation because the mounting locations only line-up one way. “Error-proof”— especially on the line when this operation has to be done in less than 30 seconds. “Poka-yoke”

Burned and in.

Welds are 5/10 in terms of sexy. But otherwise, they will hold whatever shĩt I throw at it.

I didn’t remove engine to burn so lots of welding from underneath and weird angles. Whatever. It’s definitely not a super model truck.

Now to chop-chop…

Realized a bit late that my PS hose assembly will not reach the outlet on the PS pump because…. It’s for a 1HZ. The pump would be about 3” closer. So…. Out it comes and off it goes to the hydraulic shop tomorrow for a bit of high pressure extension.
