Hi,
I am planning to buy a diesel J40. In my area Bj40s are relatively easy to find in good conditions but Bj42s are quit difficult to find. I wanted to know if there is a big difference in performance between the BJ40 and the BJ42 that justifies buying one instead of the other or if they are nearly evenly matched.

Thanks for your help

Hi
The bj42 has a more powerful engine (3b) with oil squirters at the bottom of the pistons like a Mercedes engine does. This makes them last longer and better to install a turbo on. I have one in my '82 bj42 with a 5-speed and I have one laying around to install in my BJ40 in Portugal.
I still prefer Mercedes engines over Toyota though. No relays needed to make them operate...

At Portugal? I normaly live at Spain but it is difficult to find Bj42s here. Do you have any ideas where i can look for them?
