BJ Power Steering in a HJ/HZJ

Will the power steering components from a BJ fit in a HJ/HZJ?

The box is the same, the pump is totally different.

HZ pumps are gear driven, B & H pumps are belt driven.

can you elaborate on what you are building?
you can mount any pump on a HJ(2H engine) but not the HZJ.
the box on the BJ60 is the same as HJ60 but not the same in the HZJ75,opposite rotation and rearward pointing pitman arm,it all depends on what you want to do.

Sorry, I didn't realize BJ7* was different than HZJ. I'm looking for power steering parts for HZJ7*.

In this case, I need both the box and pump from HZJ7*, right? Nothing from a BJ7* will work for me?

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Uh, yeah, Simon's got a good point.

When you start talking by Engine family, you open yourself up to all the models.

HZJ can mean 70 and 80 series (+ others), BJ & HJ can mean 40, 60, 70 series (and maybe even others).

Then we need to start distinguishing between RHD and LHD.

So, it's all in the details.

Ya, my bad. I should have clarified in the beginning.

This is for a LHD HZJ75. I'm looking for all the components to add power steering and was hoping the BJ70 stuff would work.

Can someone give me a list of the items required?

--pump and bracket

--steering box

--hydraulic hoses

-reservoir and bracket

Anything else?

if you have the 1HZ engine,the power steering pump is mounted on the leftfront side of the engine,are you missing the ps pump and the vacuum pump.?
Bj70 box is the same as HZJ75,and the lines you can make or buy .
l am wrecking a BJ70,when l am done the engine swap into a FJ45,l may have some parts for sale.
also wrecking a HJ60.

also one of my customer is selling a 86 HJ60 with a low mileage rebuilt 2H(he spent $10,000 canadian about 6 years ago),h55 with marks gear,4.88,35",arbs front and rear,AXT turbo with 3" exhaust,and a lot more,he only drive his BJ40 now and is into triumph and mg sport cars now.

I have the 1HZ engine. There is no power steering pump, but there is the vacuum pump. What is odd is that there is no place to mount the steering pump - the housing that has the vacuum pump on one side is blanked-out or solid on the opposite side.

Does that mean I need the proper housing that will accept a power steering pump? Or do I need the whole power steering gear, too?

Hmmm,l have never remove a p/s pump from a 1HZ,may be some one can chime in,or post some pictures,l have a HZJ77 on the hoist doing a front axle seal,l will take a look tomorrow.
