GF and I went to Bishop, California for an overnight trip. Camped and climbed around in the Buttermilk range west of Bishop. Found a few dirt roads that went into the mountains. Followed one for awhile and turned back when it started getting rough. I had no other rigs with me so I didn’t want to get stuck in the middle of nowhere. There was still a little snow and ice on the back dirt roads and mud as well. Would have made for a great afternoon 4x4 trip if other rigs were there. Pictures were taken with my cellphone since the GF’s camera died on us:
Go into Bishop, make a left at 168. 7.5 miles down the road turn right onto Buttermilk Road and you're there. Easy and fun exploring with lots of rock formations and plenty of free legal campsites as long as you have a fire permit and use an existing fire ring made of rocks.
