Hello all-
The time is finally here. We have received a special club rate for one of Bill Burke's legendary 2 day training classes. If you are unfamiliar with Bill check out his website here. Bill has been guiding experiential back country trips and offering a quality back country experience for 26+ years. He teaches participants techniques in operating a vehicle in a safe and skilled manner to various destinations. He teaches 4-wheel drive safety, both basic and advanced, so you can explore the back country responsibly. Bill is an I4WDTA Master Trainer.

This class is open to all Book Cliff Cruiser Members regardless of skill. Beginners will benefit from the confidence building techniques and Advanced drivers will hone their skills in driving, spotting and recovery techniques.

From Bill's website.

"Courses are extremely comprehensive learning environments, with hands-on demonstrations and opportunities taking place on the trails. Tips and tricks for negotiating the terrain will be blended with discussions, challenges and obstacles to teach owners about their vehicle's capabilities.

You will learn:
●how to be more prepared (vehicle/personal) when going into the backcountry
●how to negotiate the rough terrain
●how to do a quick field fix when something on your truck breaks
●how to pick a proper line and how to spot another driver
●basic and advanced recovery techniques
●suggestions for modifying your truck and much, much more.

Instruction by Bill Burke will get you there and back safely, answer your 4-wheeling questions, show you the correct way to drive and recover using environmentally-friendly procedures, and give you historical anecdotes of the area."

How Much you say. Bill and Rachel have generously offered a Club rate of club rate of $1990 for the two days which is half off of the regular rate There is a maximum of 8 vehicles aloud. For 8 vehicles, this will only be $248.75/vehicle! You can put as many people in your vehicle as there are seatbelts.

What say the Club?

Location: The training will be held in the area surrounding Grand Junction.

The Date is March 30-31. Bill is super booked this year so the pickings are slim.

Still tentative but probably will attend and April dates are my only option.

I was just informed that the may Date is actually a no go and Bill is already booked. I'll get in touch with Rachel tomorrow to find out what other options are available.

Where is the training going to take place? Also I could probably do the April dates, but that would kill the pre Overland Expo run for me. Also noticed the April dates is 3 days where as the May dates were only 2 days, any reason for that?

Hold on folks. There was some miscommunication betwen Rachel and I. I am working to get a new set of date options. The previous dates don't wok. Stay tuned.

OEX is in May.

OK New potential dates. These are the final ones. Bill is super booked this year so the pickings are slim.

March 30-31
July 6-7

The training will be in Grand Junction and the surrounding areas.

I'll sign up for the March 30-31 dates if we have enough BCC members sign up to keep the cost down to not exceed $300.

I will second Hugh's glowing assessment of Bill's ability as a 4x4 trainer. Though I have not been in any of his classes I have done two of his trips for a total of 10 days just hanging around with him. You can learn a lot from him just watching and listening. He is one of those unique individuals who has a huge wealth of knowledge that he can instruct on without sounding like a know-it-all or be overbearing. I really believe this class will be a tremendous benefit to all members regardless of experience level. Two days of training for $250 is a true bargain.

So I just realized that Easter is that weekend. (March 30-31). Good weekend to be in the great outdoors eh?

EDIT: Tiff gave me a seal of approval for that weekend so I'm in.

Kyla gave me her seal of approval too.

I would be in for the March 30th-31st dates, also with Ace on the cost, if we can keep the cost down to below $300. March is going to be an expensive month!! It has been an expensive winter getting the 4runner ready for this spring.

Kes approves that Kyla approves.

We could have a egg hunt for the twins on Sunday! :)

Sounds good to me!

Awesome, that puts us at about 5 so far. 6 puts us just over 300, 7 just under. At this point I think we will get there. Great too see the interest coming from you guys!

I hear ya, February has been a wallet buster for us! I'am glad to see the interest from other BCC' ers as well.

DW approves that Kes approves that Kyla approves, he looking forward to the training as well he wants to improve on his spotting skills.

Bill will approve too. He likes dogs.

It looks like 4 committed so far. I'd like to see that number up to 6-7. Feel free to spread the word. Do you guys mind if I talk to Jeff with the Jeep club to see if he has one or two people who want to attend AND become club members?

Rachel is going to need a deposit soon. Her preference is to collect one check for half of the amount.

To Collect Funds, you can write a check to Book Cliff Cruisers for $150. The remainder will be due at the time of the class. If you wish to add your membership fees for the year make the check out for $180 (for a single). Thanks. As soon as I get all checks I'll make a check out to Rachel for the deposit.
