I know I need bigger tires, but maybe not THAT big (its an old pic but a great pic).
Big Tires Win.webp

Not yet, but soon. Tires are charged to my credit card for a whopping $1,500 ($299 each x 5). Then throw some tax on there and it starts to look like an economic bailout package.

Others here have paid as little as $250 (new). When I checked prices just a few weeks ago after FN, I was quoted $287 each and now $299. I did find one place near me that offered a road-hazard plan free of charge and I specifically asked about side-wall damage from rocks - they said 'no problem' but I think I'd need to read the fine print.

Oh well, they will be in tomorrow, but I'm not sure I'll have time to get them installed until Wed or Thurs. Either way, I should be good to go for the weekend.

Hell Yes!! that pic is AWSOME!

Toyo 315/75/16 10-ply

I really haven't had much time to cruise around with the new rubber - only 2 or 3 short trips of under 5 miles each. BUT, I have to say that at least around town (no highway speeds yet) there is no difference in sound or feel of the truck/tires.

Most surprising to me, there was absolutely no difference in 'off the line' performance. I was absolutely certain the larger tires would make a noticeable difference and that would force me into re-gearing to 4.88 (and maybe even buying back my S/C :bang:).

Given how long it takes me to do anything lately (even simple stuff like getting sliders or tires), I figured it would be another year before I got the gears done. I'm happy to say I don't need new gearing (at least not as a result of the tire change :)).

I'd post pics, but my 80 with 315 Toyos looks just like MoJ's and WFD's and is still nowhere near as big as toyminator's 40" monsters!
