As Promised here are some pic's of the completed frame job. It looks awesome. The paint that was used is a POR product with a gloss finish. Looks really sharp in the sun light! Moving right along.:bounce:

Also was able to get the engine and transmission back together and set back in the frame. I had Clarence go through and do the seals on the transmission transfercase and the engine for me. I was on vacation all last week so he took over for me. Its coming along and look really good to. I just orderd all new body mounts from Specter off road along with new door hinges and all the emblems. Getting closer.

We were able to get the front clip bolted and seam seald on to the tub yesterday. First time dealing with aluminum so that took a little more research on how to paint it and prep it. So after a prep coat and the primer it again is coming along. Next will be several more hours of sanding the primer before we move on to color and clear.

It has taken some time to get here but FINALLY got some color started. I finished seam sealing around the new door hinges and around the floor and got some color and clear shot on the fire wall and on the dash. Once I get the holes drilled for the ambulance doors on the new tub I can then move on to the rest of the body.

Looking great... Good work

Looks great! Congratulations on a terrific build so far.

Curious, what'd you use for the undercoating?

Thanks,

-Ed

On the frame I used a POR base coat and then added the POR semi gloss to finsih it. It goes on really nice just super messy. The tub I used a special coating that is for alluminum only....it was a pain in the but to find but after a lot of research and asking a bunch of body guys that have much more expreince with alluminum then I do I was able to settle on this stuff. I will have to look at what it was called and get back to you on the brand of it. I for got who made it. If im not mistaking it was a 3M product. I ll let you know.

I was wrong the undercoating on the tub is made by U-POL. It is a two part liner. It comes in it own can and you have to have there gun to shoot it with. A pain but is worth it in the long run. The hardner I used was #2032 on there product list. I do recomend getting there product list to. It is a great guide if you ever plan on using it.

Ok guys I need some help on this one.....I am currently mounting the rear ambulance doors on the top so that I can get the holes drilled in the tub for the lower brackets. I am also getting ready to drill the holes for the emblems on the back passenger side. Any body have the measurements on were those go exactley....im sure its a pretty easy thing to do I just dont want to "eye ball it" and have them way off. Thanks for the help.

For the amby doors, I think the best way to go would be to mount the hardtop on the tub, and then mount the amby doors in the top holes on the hard top.
Then maybe shim the doors so they are hanging down perfectly vertical and then mark the holes for bottom hinges.

Does that make sense? Clarence my have a smarter way of doing things, but that is how I would start to approach it...

Hope that helps!

That makes total sense.....In fact that was they way I was approching it. Should work out good.

PS: That color looks awesome with nice, fresh paint!

I think so to....it looks even better in person the pictures dont do it justice.
