Well I was able to get the front doors all wellded and sealed up this last weekend. Clarence was super busy but was able to squeez in some time to help me out.

Clarence said that they were awsome to work with. The steal was great quality and didnt burn through when he was laying a good bead down. The doors are brand new!!!

That is awesome! Are you doing the same thing to the rear doors?

Yes Clarence said he should be done with them by the end of the

week. He did some awsome work. When I was sanding the

doors down and watching my fingers push right through the rust

it was frustrating. But now with the new bottoms they are solid

and look brand new.

How did he know how far down to cut-off the rust (other than the fact that he is Clarence)?

I would be afraid I'd make one door too short and the other one too long!

He just used the new metal as a template and traced them out.

Then to a cutting wheel chopped of a little inside his line then

ran spot welds along it tell it held. Then blasted it. But like you

said......it is clarence. lol

Well I was able to take a couple new pictures of some new material that clarence used on my doors and is out on the market and suposidley works wonders. Its called Dina Glass. It can be used on bare metal or on fiber glass. The big advantage to it being on the bare metal is that its water proof. So it blocks out all the moisture and protects from rusting even when the paint/clear coat gets beat up. Not cheap stuff but works really good.

A couple of pics...

I will let you guys know when I have done the feather fill on the doors and got them to primer. Just thought I would let you know about this stuff. Cheers!!

I think that is the way im leaning. Dallas said that that should be the way to go. What are your thoughts? He also said the Pilgram tubs are pretty awsome to just alittle more expensive.

I think Steve H. might have experience w/ PACOL - ask him if he has any input...

Got some updated pictures of the front end after being blasted. Looks good and is coming along.

There is part of me that wants to do this to my rig SO bad. I just love seeing threads like this and watching progress. Keep up the great work!

Hey everybody. Hope you all had a great holiday weekend. Mine was spent at work and at the inlaws.....great fun. Well I do apreciate all the comments and help on this project. I have been speaking with a few friends and my brother especially about what I should do with my tub. (by the way TJ that picture of all those tubs makes we want to cry.:crybaby:) Anyway I have been bouncing back to the alluminum tubs as well. I know they dont look quite as original as the stock tubbs but the durabilty and pricing is pretty competitive. Whats' s everbodys thoughts on that? Thanks again for the help.

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry everybody that it has been so long since a good update

has been done. Anyway I have been in the process of finishing

my garage so that it is a little more cozy to work in. I have

finally got heat run out there and the electricians just finished all

the roughing yesterday. whoooo hoooo. Now im on to trenching

the water from our house out to the garage now so that my wife

dosent get mad when I wash my hands in her nice sink. :D A

quick update on the crusier rebuild though....I am almost ready

for paint on everything but the tub. I still have not orderd one

yet. The cost of finishing the garage has put me on quite the

budget crunch. But it is still coming along. I will post

some pictures of the rear doors when I get them and also let you

know when I decide on a tub.

Some feed back on the Pilgrim tub:

I ended up using one of Paul's Half-Tubs. I think it was one of the last few that CCOT had left? Any way, it was pricey, but the quality is great!!! It did need a few tweaks to make it PERFECT, but nothing that a good body guy can't handle.

If you are going for as close to stock as possible these are a good way to go.

Good to hear the updates Big T!

I miss seeing you guys. Glad to hear you have heat in your shop. It has not been that warm lately.

Ya its nice having the heat. We will have to meet up again soon. Maybe meet dallas in moab or something.
