Sweet thanks for those pics Matt that helps out A LOT. I do have the seat belt brake light box and that is mounted. I guess I was just confuesed when thecrazygreek said it was also a brake warning light. And judging by your pictures it looks like I have a couple holes to plug. Thanks again for the help.

Just a quick update on the project I have been going through fixing all of the nuts and bolts that were either striped or borken. I have become very handy with a tap and die set. I also am a little cracked in the fact that I had my feshely painted hood sitting on my rack and it fell off and smashed the top of it and of course scrathed all the paint. So now I have to get the repainted. Other then that it is coming along.

Sweet thread! I really enjoyed reading it. Striping mine to the frame next week with help and found your build inspirational. Subscribed!

Good luck with the build.....its a lot of work but its worth it in the end.

Well just to give everbody an update on what I have been able to get done on the cruiser.

I was able to get the top put on after a LOT of tweaking to get all the holes to line up. But after a clever ratchiting mechanism with a tow strap I got it all together.

I was also able to get the ambulance doors on. They need some adjustment yet but they are hanging there and are ready to get bolted down.

The hardest part was getting the top on to the side rails and lined up with the windshield. I recomend to anybody doing a full top resto as well to get a buddy or somebody to help not only to lift it off but to put it back on and line up the holes to. It will save you a big headache and also a lot of time.

Does anybody have any secrets to adjusting the ambulance doors to make them close evenley? I am having trouble getting them to line up. Im not sure if it has to do with the new tub and having the bottom braket holes drilled slitley off? I did get the measerments off the old tub so they should be alomst exact.

IIRC BOTH the doors and the tub have floating bolt pads that allow alot of adjustment on the doors. Sounds like you are missing these on the aluminum tub, and may have to recreate...

easiest way is to take measurements of hinge holes, transfer to rectangle piece of 1/8th plate, drill holes, put bolts and nuts on, weld nuts on back side. Take bolts out, place onto inside of tub and find that sweet spot..!!!

Sounds like a plan....Ill have to becareful with the paint and stuff. Dont want to have to redo it. Aspecially since I had to redo my hood already.

Remove the existing floating bolt plates (they are captively retained in a sheet metal cage on the old tub) and used them to mount the doors on the new tub. Fitting the amb. doors was the most exasperating part of my new fender installation on my 1980.

Here's how I did it:

Be sure your hardtop is fully bolted down, and then hang the amb doors from the top hinges (which should still have their original hardtop holes. Then, install the latches and strikers and latch the amb doors. You might even leave the gaskets off the doors, to ensure the best fit. Only after you latch the doors and shim everything into place (use wooden drywall shims or paint stir sticks to create the gaps around the doors that you want), then drill your nice painted body.

Don't be in a hurry to drill the lower hinge holes through your nice new quarter panels.

Ok guys again asking for more help......I need close up pictures of the fuel lines that run to and from the carb. I will also need the measurements of where and the direction of the bends that go through out the line......I have having trouble locating lines so I have come to the conclusion that I will have to make my own.....So if I can get some help with that it will help me out a ton. Thanks again guys!!!

P.S. Im still working on getting the ambulance doors lined up.

Ok so the good news is, is I finally found some fuel lines from a gentleman from back east. Super nice guy and he gave them to me for $15.00. Not bad if you ask me. So they are in the mail and I should have them some time this week. Getting closer on the fuel system. Also I am having trouble hooking the linkige to the gas peddle. Does anybody have pictures of what theres looks like? And how it goes together. I have been trying to use SOR's diagram to figure it out and I think that im close.
