Our sewer main is 60 year old orange burg. It is deteriorated to the point that they couldn't get a camera through it. It needs to be replaced all the way out to the city main. The SOS camera guy thought it would run @ $6k, ouch!

Any of the JSC crew plumbers? Anyone know of a good plumber for a competative quote?

Check with your municipal sewer department whether you have sewer insurance. Here, we pay an extra $.50 on every sewer bill towards 'sewer insurance'. Then when you have to have your sewer line replaced- you can tap into the sewer insurance fund to help with those costs. The logic behind this is that no one really has the money to replace a failing sewer line and since leaking sewage could contaminate the water table- it is in the municipalities interest to make sure failing lines get fixed quickly.

Good luck,

Luke,

thanks for the fast response. I have checked our records and don't show any such insurance. Wish we did have something like that!

Maybe I should complain to the city that my poop is leaking into the ground water! No that won't get me anywhere. Our city refuses to do anything about the homeless camps on our watershed. (and they wonder why our creek in the park has unsafe water!)

In the land of Ash I'd be worried that if they found out there was any leakage they'd bill you for the Hazardous Material cleanup :grinpimp:

6k???

I can highly recommend David at Applegate Plumbing 846-0540 or Orrie the Plumber (MFD phone book)if he is still in business (vs. retired).

I suppose it may be expensive if access is an issue and your whole system is junk. I have wormed under houses and marveled at what digging the plumbers had done which made it possible for me to get through...
