Big Meat Run

I had sent out an e-mail a week or so ago about going to Altus to check out the Moody Copper Mines. We've changed our minds about going there for now and instead are planning on going to Disney for the Big Meat Run. Not sure if we're taking my 40 or not. May just go as spectators.

Steve,

I'm glad you changed your mind. Hope you bring your 40, I am. There are several Heep guys up here in Kansas that are taking trailers down to stay at Hogans. I'm thinking about taking mine down as well. I was hoping more guys would post to the sticky that are going to go. We could have an informal meeting (Supplied by beer) when we are down there.

Hopefully more will post up as it gets closer and people become more certain on plans. It's on my to do list, and it is looking more like life might let me make it. I can cross post to TAC and see if any of them are coming down. They have more of a family vibe than what BMR ends up becoming. Two years ago couple drunks flipped their SBS or 4wheeler and got life flighted off the rocks. And some idiot in a power wagon (M35?) with no top, no roll bar tried viagra and everyone was expecting a death by the time he was done.

Anyway, two years ago I got fed up with not getting enough interest by posting here or on the mailing list, so I went through everyone I knew in the 80 series section who lived within 200 miles and a few that I didn't really know, and PM'd them to invite them. We ended up with a cool group of 80's and got tons of funny looks as we wheeled some pretty tough stuff, half of us with Lexus badges..... I miss my white trash lexus :(

This is the response I got on GCC Forum on Mud

This is the response I got in the 80's section (not really suposed to post events there but I'm a rebel)

And this is what we ended up with.....

It was a lot of fun. That vid makes me REALLY miss my 80 - it was so point and shoot it was silly.

Anyway - Two take aways

1. Keep trying to encourage people.

2. You don't need a monster truck to go. 1 of those 80's is on 285's, which is tinny for an 80. All of those guys were really good drivers. If I make it, it'll be in my stock taco, and I'll be doing more watching than wheeling, but it's still plenty capable of getting to all the hot spots.

Just found out Jeremy, the dufus sitting on the hood of his lx is coming down, and looks like a few other TAC folks. I haven't seen dufus in two years, so I'm definately going this year. There is just something about an LX on 37's that is just irresistable.

So, dad came down from Wyo to break in boat motor - no biggie, figured I'd get him going on grand and then head over to disney. After trying for hours to get engine runninh and a flat tire on my truck, BMR just wasn't happening, even though I was within a few miles of it.

We had a lot of fun,

Ran into Mike, Matt, Darren on Friday night. We all went out and had a great time trail rides on the rock garden Friday night. Saturday buried the 40 in a mud hole that I had no business going through. Then along came Steve and Pete. Steve towed me back to camp!

You guys need to ask Steve about Pete coming out of the tent early Sunday morning. Good time. If I can get my 40 back running I might take my daughter back down this week during Spring Break.
