Big Bear Mountain Fire 97-Percent Contained
06-12-2006 11:27 AM

(Big Bear Lake, CA) -- Firefighters battling a wildfire in the San Bernardino National Forest about six-miles east of Big Bear Lake have nearly surrounded the fire. The U.S. Forest Service says the fire is now 97-percent contained. The blaze broke out Friday afternoon and charred at least 327-acres in steep mountain terrain. No homes have been damaged and there have been no reports of injuries. The cause of the fire is being investigated.

Anyone know if it's close to our intended trails???

Located north east of Baldwin lake in an area called Arrastre Creek; Near 3N03.

Just for info and a quick heads up for the local wheeler's in Big Bear and surrounding areas, the USFS has found a couple of incendary devices recently. One of which was near Green Valley.

If you see something shady or suspect something out of the norm, call USFS OHV manager and liason for adopt-a-trail Greg Hoffman (909-382-2811). He's a super neat pro-active dude working to keep our trails open and will follow up.
