Thought I would share a quick amateur fab project. Wife bought a used Tag a Long so the smallest kiddo could ride longer distances with us. It’s great but the seat post mount is too tall for the amount of seat post stick out on her frame. I ended up making a new one from 4130 as I know that’s weldable. Not sure about the post that was in there.
Gathered materials and made a plan.
Machined the top for both fit in the tube as well as the clamp. Left a ridge for weldment as well as for a stop for the clamp. Hogged out a bit of the center for weight reduction.
Then weld it up.
Next miter and notch the square tube that the tag along attaches to and weld that up.
