getting ready to pull the trigger on some bias IROKs. Any of you guys that drive your swamper'd/bias ply tired rig to trails/events have any input? I can't see the point in paying +/- $150 a tire for radials, for improved wear characteristics. I can get 5 bias IROKs for about $400 cheaper than 4 of their radial counterparts.
I put about 6k on my 80 in the last year, mostly to trails, camp, and a bit around town. Not a DD. Noise- non-issue. Vibration- non issue. Wrench gave me some heads up on some issues.
What do you guys think?

I started out with a set of bias 36" x15" IROKS. Rough ride ,death wobble, bad highway manners. Now have 37x12.50x17 radial Iroks. Rides and drives like a cadilac. No wobble, 60mph smooth as can be and better traction. Bias do have stronger sidewalls than radials, I have seen a few torn up in the rocks

I run TSL bias ply on the zuk and love em. They are noisy but It's a crawler not a caddy! The handle Perfectly fine on highway and they aren't even balanced(after they warm up in the 1st couple miles). I don't know if the iroks will behave the same way. My pilosophy is to deal with noise for better offroad performance.

I run 38.5 mickey Thompson baja claw bias on my 40, they ride great on highway cruising 65, at 40 i feel a slight wobble when they are cold but thats it, very tough sidewall. I run eqal balancing sand in them, it does good job of balancing that 103lb tire,

I'm running 36" TSL radials. Had bias before, radials run much better on road.

I run off road only, bias for better off road performance, better sidewall at lower pressure, and cheaper.

thanks for the input everyone! i think that i will try to poop out some more coins for the radials. once the white whale is harpooned and on a trailer, bias replacements will be the next meat.

WHEELING!
