Stebel Nautilus = 139dB
Fiamm Freeway Blaster = 130dB
Hella Supertones = 118dB(A)

3dB change = twice as loud (or twice as quiet)
Hmmm... HANG UP AND DRIVE!
:meh:

Great info! Wish i would have heard about the Stebel Nautilus may have considered them depending on the price. I don't know the price for certain yet I recall the Fiamm's FB are only about 15-18 bucks a piece.

eBay train horn - $35 and combined with the yellow Hellas, it TURNS heads & stops traffic!!!

Try PIAA bass.. Really deep masculine-trucklike-tone... Really like them and are about $45 a pair... Hellas are good for smaller cars.. just my 2 cents...

I use the PIAA Sport Horns 400HZ + 500HZ. They're not super loud like some out there but they're loud enough. And the sound they put out is pretty fitting for a large vehicle like ours. The Hella Supertones/Sharptones and the Nautilus are rather weak sounding in my opinion.

I have the FIAMM Highway Blaster Hi/Lo Horns. Has a more "normal" tone than the wimpy OEM horn.

Had a Stebel Nautilus which died, replaced it with a FIAMM Ultimate Blast Compact which has also died.

I'll be looking for some VW horns at the scrappy tomorrow.

If you live in a wettish climate then either find a sheltered spot to locate a compressor type horn or be prepared to replace them fairly regularly.

Stock 2000+ 4 runner are plug and play, as are most other oem horns of of the era.

If you are looking for a bwah not beep sounding horn, grab a set from a Lexus or large Toyota.

5-10 minutes to install big boy Lexus/Toyota horns using the stock mounting location and factory wire plug

My bad, the relay had gone belly up, not the FIAMM horn. However, I'd already gone and pulled half a dozen horns from various cars so I now have one snail type air horn from a VW Golf and one Hella from a VW Polo. It all sounds very anti-social now :D

I fitted a pair of these puppies yesterday.

Plug and play, seriously no more than a five to ten minute swap.

Used than in anger this morning having forgotten I'd fitted them. Got nearly as much of a surprise as the dopey asian chick that cut into my lane without looking.
