I am trying to get a new truck this year and Toyota is being extremely tight on their pricing. I am trying to find out what I am doing wrong with "Toyota" when other makers are willing to deal?

Toyota has a history of longevity but they want to charge you for a 100,000 mile warranty but other makers are including the that warranty in the base price.

Any tips on how to get the best price for the year end buys on a Toyota Tundra?

Toyota is tight on pricing because, well, its a Toyota and they can.

Do lots of research on what options you have to have and what options you can do with out. Look all over the net for pricing, taking notes on what are good prices for the truck you want. Have your financing figured out before you go in. You want to deal with the truck, and just the truck price.

Don't be afraid to drive out of town to get the truck you want. With that in mind, you can search individual dealer inventories by going directly to their website. Find 5 dealers that have a truck equipped like you want. Contact them directly. Most will have an internet department. Explain to the them what you are doing, and ask for the best price.

Take the lowest price you are offered, and ask for a buy sheet from them. I did this while at my credit union, so the faxes were coming to and from the bank. This will really get them dealing. Once you have a buy sheet, call the place that has the next best deal and tell them what you are going to pay from the first dealer. Fax over the deal sheet if they want to review it. Most likely, unless the first price was bogus, they will come back with a better deal.
Now, its up to you to see how far you can push this game. If you push too much, you might piss them off, but that's up to you.

That being said, Tundras are expensive. I would love one, but I can't justify one at this time.

Well apparently I was doing it right but I was just being spoiled. I have been an Option 1 customer with GM for the past 20 years. This was nice because I got the absolute minimum price and the dealer had no control over it. Pricing was direct from the factory since my father-in-law was a retired GM employee. Well I have never played the "price game" with a dealer before until now.

Fast forward to Oct 20th. I brought home a 2010 Tundra Double Cab 5.7 TRD :D

So far so good, got the price I was looking for and the price I wanted for the trade in.

Curiose what you got for an interest rate as toyota financial is offering 0% right now!
